Did you know?
The temple was established in the late 19th century, around 1890 by a devotee named Annadhana Swamigal (also known as Annaswami Nayakar).
The temple began as a simple thatched shed with a painting of Lord Muruga, worshipped with deep devotion. Over time, many miracles were reported by devotees, leading to the temple’s popularity and eventual expansion into the grand structure seen today.
Today, it's one of the most visited temples in Chennai — especially for marriage blessings and new beginnings.
