Appakkudathan Perumal – Paper Mache Golu Doll Set
Celebrate the divine grace of Lord Vishnu with this exquisitely crafted representation of Appakkudathan Perumal, majestically reclining on the five-hooded Adisesha. Depicted in a serene Bhujanga Sayanam (reclining) posture, this traditional paper mache doll is intricately hand-painted to reflect the sanctity and splendor of the Divya Desam at Thiruppernagar (Koviladi).
Story:
At Thiruppernagar, one of the 108 sacred Divya Desams near Trichy, Lord Vishnu tested the devotion of a humble devotee by appearing in disguise and asking for Appam (a sweet offering). Despite his poverty, the devotee joyfully prepared and offered the dish. Pleased with his sincerity, the Lord revealed His true form and accepted the appam in a pot—thus earning the name “Appakkudathan”, the Lord who holds the pot of appam.
Temple Location:
The Appakkudathan Perumal Temple, also known as Koviladi Divya Desam, is located about 24 km from Trichy on the Trichy–Thanjavur highway. Devotees take a diversion near Tiruvaiyaru Road to reach Koviladi / Thiruppernagar, nestled along the banks of the Cauvery river.
A must-have piece for your Divya Desam or Vishnu-themed Golu, this set brings mythological storytelling, tradition, and artistic finesse together into one divine collectible.
